Terms of Service

Welcome! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your rental of reusable moving totes and related equipment from Turtle Totes ("we," "us," or "our"), a business operating in Wilmington, North Carolina. By booking a rental or using our website (rentturtletotes.com), you agree to these Terms.
If you don't agree with these Terms, please don't use our service.
1. What We Provide
Turtle Totes rents reusable plastic moving totes, dollies, zip ties, and label cards for local residential and commercial moves in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties, North Carolina. We deliver the equipment to your starting address and pick it up from your destination address within our service area.
2. Rental Period
The standard rental period is one (1) week from the delivery date. You may extend your rental at the following weekly rates:
- Studio, 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom packages: $39 per additional week
- 3-Bedroom and 4-Bedroom packages: $59 per additional week
- 5+ Bedroom package: $69 per additional week
Extensions must be requested before your scheduled pickup date. Totes kept beyond the scheduled pickup date without an approved extension will be billed at the applicable weekly rate.
3. Pricing and Payment
Payment in full is due at the time of booking. We process payments securely through Stripe. Your payment details are handled directly by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.
Applicable state and local sales tax is added at checkout based on your delivery address (7% for New Hanover and Pender Counties; 6.75% for Brunswick County).
4. Delivery and Pickup
We require a minimum of 2 days' lead time for delivery. Delivery and pickup windows are:
- Morning: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Afternoon: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
You are responsible for providing accurate delivery and pickup addresses, access instructions (gate codes, apartment numbers, etc.), and ensuring someone is available during the scheduled window. If we're unable to complete delivery or pickup due to incorrect information or no access, additional fees may apply to reschedule.
5. Customer Responsibilities
By renting from Turtle Totes, you agree to:
- Use the totes only for their intended purpose (packing and moving household or office items).
- Not use totes to store or transport hazardous materials, chemicals, biological waste, perishable food, or anything illegal.
- Handle the totes and dollies with reasonable care.
- Empty all totes before pickup. We do not unpack for you.
- Ensure totes are accessible at the pickup location at the scheduled time.
- Not sell, sublet, or transfer the totes to anyone else.
6. Damage and Loss
Normal wear and tear is expected and not charged. However, if a tote or dolly is returned damaged beyond reasonable use (cracked, broken lid, punctured) or is not returned at all, the following fees apply:
- Damaged or missing tote: $25 per tote
- Damaged or missing dolly: $50 per dolly
We photograph equipment at delivery and pickup to document condition. These fees will be charged to the payment method on file.
7. Cancellations and Changes
- 48+ hours before scheduled delivery: Free cancellation, full refund.
- Less than 48 hours before scheduled delivery: $50 cancellation fee.
- Rescheduling: Free with 48+ hours notice; $25 fee inside 48 hours.

8. Service Area
We currently serve New Hanover County, Brunswick County, and Pender County in North Carolina. This includes but is not limited to Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Leland, Hampstead, Surf City, Southport, and Oak Island. If your zip code is outside our service area, we are unable to fulfill your order.
9. Limitation of Liability
Turtle Totes is not responsible for the contents of the totes or for any damage, loss, or theft of your belongings during the rental period. You are solely responsible for packing, moving, and unpacking your items. We recommend using renter's, homeowner's, or moving insurance for valuable possessions.
To the fullest extent permitted by North Carolina law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your rental is limited to the amount you paid for the rental. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Indemnification
You agree to hold Turtle Totes harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of our equipment or violation of these Terms.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your information. By using our service, you also agree to that policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted at rentturtletotes.com/terms.html with the effective date shown. For existing rentals, the Terms that were in effect at the time of booking apply.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Hanover County, North Carolina.
